How important is it to give my pets filtered water?

It’s VERY IMPORTANT to give your pets filtered water.

I’m sure you love your pets as much as we love our dog Lucky.

We all want our pets to live long, healthy lives. Giving them chlorine-free water is one of the most important things we can do for them.

Chlorine is a pesticide, as defined by the U.S. EPA, whose sole purpose is to kill living organisms. When our pets consume water-containing chlorine, it has an adverse impact on their bodies.

One of the first people to draw attention to the harm that chlorine can do was Dr. Joseph Price. In the late 1960s, Dr. Price wrote, what was then a controversial book titled “Coronaries/Cholesterol/Chlorine.” (available at https://www.amazon.com/Coronaries-Cholesterol-Chlorine-Joseph-Price/dp/9962636892. Dr. Price concluded that “the basic cause of atherosclerosis and resulting entities such as heart attacks and stroke, is chlorine.”

Dr. Price later proved the horrible effects chlorine over time can have by using chickens as test subjects. Two groups of several hundred birds were observed throughout their span to maturity. One group was given water with chlorine and the other without. The group raised with chlorine, when autopsied, showed some level of heart or circulatory disease in every specimen, the group without chlorine had no incidence of disease. The group with chlorine under winter conditions, showed outward signs of poor circulation, shivering, drooped feathers, and a reduced level of activity. The group without chlorine grew faster, larger, and displayed vigorous health.

This study was significant enough that it changed how poultry producers hydrated their chickens: they switched to de-chlorinated water.

It’s common sense that if regular chlorinated water was bad for chickens, it’s bad for our pets.

Give your pets de-chlorinated water from a quality filter.
