We all have those conspiracies or things we believe in that are not true. You’ve heard things for years and no one has told you different. Then you meet an expert in that field, and they have to explain to you how terribly wrong you are. Again, we’ve all gone through it and it’s something we’d rather not go through again. When it comes to your health, there are still some things you may not know about that could make some significant changes and improvements in your life. Here are some of the most common:
- Vitamin intake: People make the mistake of thinking they are getting enough vitamins from their food. The fact is that most American’s suffer from vitamin deficiency of some kind. A doctor can show you with a simple test but it’s important to underestimate the number of vitamins you are getting with your food and drinks. Committing to a supplement each day is a great way to boost your immune system.
- Using the microwave: The microwave is mostly safe. However, people are constantly making the mistake of microwaving their plastic containers. It’s not smart with most types of plastic and the heat can release dangerous toxins.
- Negative calorie foods: The idea of negative calorie foods is that when you eat them, you burn more calories digesting the food than you gain from the food. However, that doesn’t mean adding some carrot and celery sticks to your chicken wings is going to offset the meal. Eating a carrot may only burn 2-5 calories.
- Washing your hands: Most people do not wash their hands properly. The reason is because they are usually rushing. You must take time to wash your hands if you really want to clean them.
- You need eight hours of sleep: Yes, the more sleep you get the better, but the problem is people think you need seven to eight hours a night. Actually, you can have plenty of energy with five hours or so. What it usually comes down to is your diet and if you are relying on sugar and caffeine to stay awake, you’re going to have some challenges.
- You should drink a gallon of water a day: Drinking that much water a day can flush out a lot of the vitamins in your body. Really, the people who should be drinking that much work outside and sweat throughout the day.
- Air quality doesn’t matter: The fact is that the quality of our air can impact our mood and energy levels. That was before covid and now it’s even more important than ever to have healthier air to breathe.
You do not need to run out the door to fix these mistakes immediately. Always speak with your doctor before you make drastic changes to ensure that you are doing things the right way. Remember, everyone is different and has different health needs. That’s why you have to keep that in mind as you change things up.
